About
Katie Berger
I make new work for the stage, teach the next round of theater-makers, and help build the room where stories get told.
I'm a theatrical educator, playwright, composer, and musician currently serving as Director of Education at Woodstock Arts in Woodstock, Georgia. I split my time between the classroom, the rehearsal room, and the writer's desk, with each of those rooms informing the others.
My work as a composer and playwright includes the musical Full, which premiered at freeFall Theatre in 2014 and went on to productions at Jobsite Theater and Howard W. Blake School of the Arts in Tampa, culminating in an Off-Broadway run at the 2016 New York City Fringe Festival. My newer play, Willow Wood, is currently in development.
Before settling into education leadership, I trained as a performer (BFA, Musical Theatre, Northern Kentucky University) and worked professionally as an actor, music director, and teaching artist across the country. I've lived in Ireland, Austria, New York, Minnesota, Florida, and Cincinnati along the way, and I bring all of those rooms into the one I'm in now.
I still teach private voice, ukulele, and guitar lessons. If you're interested in studying with me, see the Lessons page. For anything else, the contact form is the best way to reach me.
